Tiwi, Kenia: Il Primo Tetto nella Scuola di Celine E’ Stato Installato

Appare quasi incredibile, da sembrare un miraggio, eppure è una realtà: il primo tetto della scuola di Celine, a Tiwi, provincia di Diani, nel Kenia sud- orientale, ora c’è. E’ stato installato, come vi mostriamo nelle foto di copertina e qui di seguito. Perché definiamo l’operazione incredibile? Lo spieghiamo per chi non conoscesse la storia. Celine è la direttrice di una scuola di comunità a Tiwi, una scuola molto frequentata da bambini nelle fasce di età che vanno dai 2 ai 12 anni. Vari eventi atmosferici hanno semidistrutto l’istituto, pertanto oggi gli studenti studiano e giocano in locali fatiscenti.

Per questo motivo Celine ha acquistato, con molti sacrifici, un’ampia area verde dove costruire una nuova scuola. Ha fatto realizzare le strutture, ma mancavano i tetti e gli infissi e lei, purtroppo, non aveva più fondi per proseguire nel suo lavoro e offrire ai suoi bambini una nuova scuola adeguata, con strutture forti e dagli spazi ampi e confortevoli. E qui sono arrivati i volontari del Servizio Civile Universale, Lorenzo e Davide, che hanno realizzato una raccolta fondi a giugno.

Nel giro di pochi giorni sono stati raccolti 3mila euro e subito Celine si è messa al lavoro. Gli operai hanno fatto il resto. Di questo passo, in ottobre, la scuola sarà terminata. Grazie a chi ha creduto in questo progetto, sponsorizzandolo, e a chi ha donato con generosità perché fosse realizzato. Un piccolo seme per un grande albero che con il tempo darà i suoi frutti, è questa la nuova scuola di Celine.

Tiwi, Kenya: The First Roof at Celine’s School Has Been Installed

It almost seems incredible, like a mirage, yet it is a reality: the first roof of Celine’s school in Tiwi, in the Diani province of southeastern Kenya, is now in place. It has been installed, as shown in the cover photos and below. Why do we describe this operation as incredible? We explain it for those who are not familiar with the story. Celine is the director of a community school in Tiwi, a school heavily attended by children aged between 2 and 12 years old. Various weather events have semi-destroyed the institution; therefore, today, students study and play in dilapidated rooms. For this reason, Celine purchased a large green area with great sacrifice to build a new school. She had the structures built, but they lacked roofs and windows, and unfortunately, she ran out of funds to continue her work and provide her children with a new school suitable for their needs, with strong structures and spacious, comfortable areas. This is where the volunteers from Universal Civil Service, Lorenzo and Davide, came in—they organized a fundraising campaign in June. In just a few days, they raised 3,000 euros, and Celine immediately got to work. The workers took care of the rest. At this rate, by October, the school will be completed. Thanks to everyone who believed in this project by sponsoring it and to those who donated generously so that it could be realized. A small seed for a great tree that will bear fruit over time—this is Celine’s new school.
